Kurukshetra University was founded in 1956 as a unitary residential university, with the late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India's first President, laying the foundation stone. Its campus is situated on the western bank of Brahm Sarovar (the holy tank) and extends over 400 acres in the holy city of Kurukshetra, home of the historical battle of 'Mahabharata' and the great message of Bhagwad Gita.
