The University of Jammu aspires to achieve world-class quality in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer while also contributing to the region's and country's socio-economic development. Following the separation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir, the University of Jammu was certified as 'A+' and ranked 52 in 1969 under the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969. The University offers education in whichever fields of study it deems appropriate, as well as research, knowledge advancement, and dissemination. It also bestows honorary degrees or other accolades on deserving individuals. It is primarily a research, teaching, affiliating, and examining body dedicated to the advancement of the arts, science, and technology.
